Course Description

This course provides in-depth training on HURREVAC, an Internet-based computer software used to track and display hurricane information and assist with hurricane response decision-making. The course covers how to load and set up HURREVAC on your computer, basic operating instructions, and how to “personalize” the program for your jurisdiction. The course also includes instructions on displaying forecast wind levels for individual counties, rain and river gage data, and historical storm data, as well as how to use HURREVAC to calculate evacuation decision times and to design your own hurricane exercise.

Target Audience: Local emergency management personnel from any jurisdiction that might be impacted by hurricanes and flood events. The course will also be useful to state and local government personnel involved in hurricane response operations. Class size is limited.
