Course Description

AWR-130 - Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings (IRTB) - Awareness

This course provides basic instruction on response procedures for terrorist incidents involving energetic materials (explosives and incendiaries). The course includes classroom presentations that address potential terrorist bombing targets in U.S. communities, common military and commercial explosives available to terrorists, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and response procedures that support safe and effective operations during bombing incidents.

Course Objectives:
  • To prepare emergency responders and others who are involved in incident response to perform safely and effectively during incidents of terrorism involving energetic materials (explosives and incendiaries)
  • To instill in participants a respect for the destructive potential of energetic materials that terrorist may use in a WMD incident

How this course is offered:

This is an indirect delivery course that is taught at the local jurisdiction by someone from the jurisdiction who has successfully completed the PER-230-1: Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings (Train the Trainer) course.  The materials and certificate are provided by New Mexico Tech.
