Target Audience:
This course is intended for mayors, county judges, emergency management coordinators, other emergency management and homeland security personnel, as well as senior members of emergency service departments or volunteers groups that respond to disasters.

Course ObjectiveS:

  • Describe the emergency management framework in Texas.
  • Provide an overview of TDEM’s department activities and how they support local jurisdictions.
  • Discuss resources available to jurisdictions, to include grants and surplus property
  • Discuss health concerns, to include vital records, Amber Alert, behavioral health, and animal health.
  • Discuss hazards, to include weather and floodplain management and radiological and hazardous materials.
